[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, the European Super League project is facing difficulties, and A22, the company driving the new competition system, has suffered heavy losses. A22 Sports Management, which promotes the new competitive structure in European football, recorded a massive loss of 5.5 million euros in 2024, the largest since its inception. The loss in 2023 was only 227,000 euros. At the same time, revenue dropped significantly, and there has been no substantial progress in the institutional aspect. Revenue fell sharply from 3.3 million euros in 2023 to 720,000 euros in 2024. Although A22 proposed a more open, sports-based competition model, it has not yet received formal support from FIFA or UEFA. Compared to when A22 started in 2022, the situation has changed greatly – then the company earned 7.2 million euros and had a net profit of 1.9 million euros. Currently, the source of revenue is unclear, and it is speculated that it may come from clubs still supporting the project, such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, although there is no official confirmation. It is reported that A22 is on the brink of bankruptcy, with negative equity of 5.2 million euros. The company survives by the support of two shareholders, Anas Laghari and John Hahn, who injected 500,000 euros in 2023.
