[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, La Liga clubs are focusing on commercial development, and hosting other events at stadiums to increase revenue has become a trend. The reports state that almost all La Liga clubs are renovating their stadiums, as they understand that this is not just about aesthetics, but also an economic issue. This “stadium renovation craze” may ultimately fund future player transfers. Efficient stadium management makes player signings possible. For example, Atletico Madrid hosts over 200 events on non-match days. This is a major revenue source that La Liga clubs still need to develop. That’s why they have decided to renovate football stadiums across Spain. This will have various impacts-previously, the average lifespan of a stadium was 40 years, but by 2027, it will be reduced to 20 years. Infrastructure investment in this area could reach as much as €4 billion. The stadium’s role is not just as a city’s iconic infrastructure, used for only a dozen games a season, but also for other activities. In addition, there are many other revenue streams, such as renting out press conference rooms or organizing team-building activities in the stadium. Last year, clubs held 500 profitable events on non-match days, and this year has already reached 620.
