[Saba Sports News] Max Verstappen’s future has long been the biggest mystery in the paddock. Although he confirmed he will remain with Red Bull until 2026, this does not mean the controversy has ended. Recently, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko made similar comments, stating: “Verstappen’s decision to stay with Red Bull next year is the right choice because there is currently no evidence that Mercedes would have an advantage under the new regulations in 2026. However, if Red Bull’s car proves to be uncompetitive, Verstappen can consider leaving at any time.” Marko pointed out that although there were rumors about Verstappen possibly switching to Mercedes, he never believed the driver would leave. Verstappen signed with Red Bull until 2028, and all his achievements have been made with the team. Facing the uncertainty of the 2026 season, which includes significant changes in aerodynamics and power units, staying with Red Bull is definitely a safer choice. Red Bull is like a ship that just changed its helm but now faces a storm: Verstappen’s presence keeps the mast steady, Laurent Mekies quietly adjusts the course, and Marko keeps his eyes on the future map. If Red Bull delivers a competitive package next year, Verstappen will stay; if not, Marko’s “can leave anytime” will turn from comfort to prophecy.
