[Saba Sports News] Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei has been elected as a new member of the Badminton Association Council in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the Penang Badminton Association. As a legendary figure in badminton, he brings extensive competition experience and exceptional expertise, which will provide valuable advice to the council in areas such as athlete development and training method improvements.
With his professional experience, he can help formulate more scientific and reasonable training plans to enhance the overall level of the Malaysian national badminton team. Lee Chong Wei has a high profile and influence in the international badminton community. His election will strengthen the communication and cooperation between the Malaysian Badminton Association and the Badminton World Federation, as well as with other national badminton associations, creating more opportunities and resources for Malaysian badminton players in international competitions.
Lee Chong Wei is a badminton legend, having won 69 men’s singles titles in open competitions and holding the world number one ranking for a record 349 weeks. He reached the Olympic men’s singles final three times, winning silver each time, and has been named the Badminton World Federation’s Male Player of the Year five times. In 2023, he was inducted into the Badminton Hall of Fame.
