[Saba Sports News] Devin Booker, the Phoenix Suns’ star, recently addressed the media about teammate Eric Gordon’s public expression of discontent with his role on the team. Gordon had voiced his belief that he could be used more effectively in the team’s offense. Booker, in response, emphasized that no one in the team took Gordon’s remarks personally, citing Gordon’s long career and respect he’s earned in the league, as reported by Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic.
The Suns are currently facing a challenging season with a 14-14 record, placing them 11th in the Western Conference, which may be contributing to the heightened tensions. Despite his capabilities as a shooter and his effective play inside the paint, Gordon has seen a drop in performance in December, averaging just 8.3 points from 8.4 shots per game. This dip comes even as the Suns are missing Bradley Beal, another key guard.
At 35, Gordon is in his first year with the Suns but brings with him the experience of a 16-year NBA career, including several significant playoff appearances. Booker, who has the longest tenure with the Suns and is often seen as the team’s leader, has dealt with difficult teammates in the past but doesn’t categorize Gordon as one of them.
