[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Gavi’s (Pablo Gavira) meniscus, initially diagnosed as a bruise, was found to be torn during surgery. When Gavi arrived at a Barcelona hospital on Monday, he expected to undergo a procedure to resolve the discomfort in his right knee that had been bothering him since August. However, the outcome surprised everyone, including the doctors, as Gavi’s injury was far more serious than anticipated. Gavi was originally scheduled for an arthroscopy. The player was injured during training on August 29th, with the affected knee being the same leg in which he suffered an ACL tear. When the new injury occurred, there were fears of another ACL injury, but initial examinations ruled this out and suggested it was likely a meniscus bruise, leading doctors to recommend conservative treatment. However, after three weeks of conservative treatment, Gavi was still in pain. Barcelona’s medical team and external specialists decided to proceed with arthroscopic surgery, initially estimating a recovery time of four to five weeks. But during Monday’s arthroscopy, a more severe injury was discovered. Gavi’s meniscus was actually torn and required suturing to repair, extending the recovery time to five months. The news has shocked everyone at Barcelona, and the players are very saddened because Gavi is extremely well-liked in the dressing room.
