[Saba Sports News] Earlier, former Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean participated in a TPC test at the Mugello Circuit. This was his first time driving a familiar F1 car since retiring from the F1 paddock. Aside from Team Principal Ayao Komatsu being present, Dominic Haines, who was Grosjean’s Race Engineer from 2019 to 2020 and currently serves as the Heritage Project Chief Engineer, was also there to oversee the event. Ian Staniforth, Grosjean’s long-time Number One Race Mechanic, also appeared at the Mugello Circuit in the role of Race Team Support Chief Mechanic. Additionally, several other team members who had worked with Grosjean in operations and pit crew during his 98 races representing the Haas F1 Team were present. Regarding Haas’s invitation, Grosjean said: I am extremely grateful to Gene Haas and Ayao Komatsu for inviting me to the TPC test at Mugello. To say I’m excited about getting back into a Formula One cockpit again would be an understatement. I can hardly believe it’s been almost five years, but coming back and doing this test with my old team is really special. I’m thrilled to see everyone, and I’m sure we’ll spend some time reminiscing, but I’m also keen to contribute to the track program with the VF-23 car – it’s fantastic that the team is now incorporating the TPC project into its continuous development plan.
