[Saba Sports News] Recently, at the 2025 BWF World Junior Championships held in Wahati, India, the Chinese team defeated the Indonesian team 2-0 in the mixed team final to claim the championship and lift the Suhandinata Cup. In the final, China’s playing order was: women’s doubles, mixed doubles, women’s singles, men’s singles, men’s doubles. Although slightly trailing after the first women’s doubles match, the subsequent mixed doubles, women’s singles, men’s singles, and men’s doubles players performed excellently, allowing China to easily win the first game 45-30. In the second game, China narrowly secured it 45-44, thus completing a 2-0 victory over Indonesia. This tournament employed a new mixed team relay format, featuring five disciplines per match, following a best-of-three-games system where each game requires accumulating 45 points to win. The Chinese national badminton team achieved five consecutive titles from 2014 to 2018 but has only won once in the last four editions, in 2023. It is worth mentioning that Chen Long has been serving as a coach for the Chinese national junior badminton team since December 17, 2024. Regarding his transition from athlete to coach, Chen Long stated: “Each championship holds a different meaning, witnessing my growth. After retiring, I am very willing to contribute to promoting badminton. Taking up the role as national junior team coach will be a completely new life journey for me.”
