[Saba Sports News] Regarding last week’s incident, Malaysian para-badminton player Cheah Liek Hou strongly criticized the Malaysian Paralympic Council on social media. He posted that he still had not received the promised rewards one year after winning the badminton gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which attracted public attention. Although the bonus was paid subsequently, the Malaysian Paralympic Council seems to feel aggrieved and is demanding an apology from Cheah Liek Hou. Management personnel of the Council described Cheah’s way of expression as “unprofessional” and emphasized that as a world No. 1 player, he should have apologized to ease tensions, which would be sufficient to regain the trust of the Paralympic Council as the national top body for disabled athletes. However, this stance has not gained recognition from fans and the public, who believe that the delay in issuing the bonus was problematic in the first place, and demanding an apology from the player after belated payment is simply unjustifiable.
