[Saba Sports News] Previously, media reports suggested that Ferrari and McLaren had brief discussions regarding a driver swap, likely involving Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc. Although Leclerc is a product of the Ferrari driver academy, his recent frequent contacts with other teams indicate he might be preparing to leave Ferrari. This situation provides Piastri with an option from another top team. While their points advantage has severely shrunk, McLaren also publicly stated the team would not have any upgrades, adding pressure to Piastri, who is already driving a car showing declining speed. On one hand, Max Verstappen chasing from behind like a beast is suffocating; on another, the team’s refusal to upgrade makes it difficult for him to progress with the car’s speed at a disadvantage; furthermore, he must constantly be wary of the competitive threat from teammate Lando Norris. From Piastri’s perspective, he clearly does not receive the team’s support, and many actions even seem to favor Norris, who has significantly fewer points. In this situation, perhaps Piastri should really consider changing environments to release his long-suppressed frustrations. However, the final decision will depend on how each team adapts to the new regulations in the new season. If the Ferrari F1 team’s car does not experience a cliff-like drop in speed, then Piastri might indeed join them in the 2027 season.
