[Saba Sports News] Recently, Rexy Mainaky, President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, discussed the upcoming Thomas-Uber Cup starting next year in a media interview. He stated that he has already begun discussions with Lee Chong Wei regarding this important event, proposing an early preparation period for the players. Previously, preparations by the Badminton Association of Malaysia before major tournaments were often rushed. This time, starting the preparation process as early as January 2026 will allow players ample time for physical conditioning, technical refinement, and tactical drills. This is significant for enhancing the team’s overall strength and match adaptability, helping to avoid various issues associated with last-minute preparations. The editor believes that early preparation offers numerous benefits: players have sufficient time for physical reserves, technical improvement, and addressing weaknesses, avoiding hasty adjustments just before competitions. It also allows enough time to design and practice diverse tactics, fostering better coordination between singles and doubles players. Furthermore, it enables the early identification of lineup gaps or fluctuations in player form, allowing for timely personnel adjustments and reducing last-minute risks.
