[Saba Sports News] In 2024, the Interlagos circuit witnessed one of Max Verstappen’s most famous victories, where the Red Bull driver started from P17 in tricky conditions and ultimately won the race. Assessing the possibility of delivering another stellar performance at this year’s F1 São Paulo Grand Prix, Verstappen remained cautious. Verstappen said: “First, we have to see how the weather develops in the coming days. I think our average performance in recent races has been very good, but of course, if you want to win more races, we need to be more competitive, so we’ll see how it goes.” The Sprint format also returns for the upcoming weekend, with forecasts suggesting possible showers at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace. However, when asked if this could present an opportunity for him, considering his performance in the rain a year ago, Verstappen was cautious. He explained: “Racing in the rain is always high risk. It can work for you, it can work against you. Also, I think McLaren this year has been exceptional in the rain, for example, with controlling the overheating of the intermediate tyres, so it’s not like we suddenly become unbeatable when it’s raining. We’ll see, I’m not stressed about it. We’ll just give it our all. If it’s enough, then maybe I’ll close the gap, but if it’s not, then it’s not. It’s as simple as that.”
