[Saba Sports News] At the recent centenary celebration of the Penang Badminton Association in Malaysia, Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei was in attendance. Not only that, but he also brought a gift for the Penang Badminton Association: a batch of badminton rackets bearing his signature. These rackets were to be sold as a limited edition during the celebration. In the end, all 200 rackets were sold, totaling 200,000 Malaysian Ringgit. The proceeds will be entirely used for the daily operations of the Penang Badminton Association. Lee Chong Wei is a legendary figure in Malaysian badminton. He reached the world number one ranking in badminton, becoming the third male singles player from the country to achieve this feat, and he held the position for a long time, setting a record in the sport. He won the Malaysian Open multiple times and also claimed titles at the All England Open among other tournaments, becoming a dominant force in the Super Series. Off the court, he was conferred honors such as the Datuk title, recognizing his contributions to Malaysia. After retirement, he remains involved in local badminton development, serving as an ambassador for related celebrations and setting an example for the younger generation. With his perseverance on the court and dedication to sports, he has become a symbol of sporting spirit in Malaysia.
