[Saba Sports News] According to the latest reports from Thai media, the Thai government has approved plans to host an F1 street race in Bangkok, aiming to hold the event for five consecutive years starting in 2028. As a local F1 driver, Williams’ Alex Albon expressed strong support in a media interview, stating, “It’s great to see Thailand’s determination. They are taking this very seriously, and I believe it will be a strong event product.” As a new F1 race in Southeast Asia, it will not only enhance Thailand’s international image but also boost industries such as tourism and dining. Additionally, it provides a home-track advantage for local driver Albon, promoting the growth of motorsport in the region. F1 officials have expressed support for the plan. Thailand already has a foundation in event organization and has addressed previous bidding obstacles by avoiding historical preservation areas. The race is planned for the Chatuchak district, with the track connecting urban landmarks such as the weekend market and central station, transforming everyday roads into a spectator-friendly and story-driven circuit, aligning with the popular trend of F1 city races.
