[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the Championship match between Charlton and Portsmouth had to be canceled due to an emergency situation in the stands. In the 19th round of the Championship, the match at Charlton’s home ground was stopped by referee Matthew Donohoe in the 12th minute, with the score still at 0-0. This was due to a medical incident that occurred in the North Stand, which is designated for home fans. After a 5-minute suspension of the match, as a fan continued to receive treatment, the players from both teams were escorted off the field. The fan was reportedly taken away on a stretcher by medical personnel. The players waited in the locker rooms for nearly 40 minutes, after which Charlton officially announced that the match was canceled. In the aftermath, Charlton released a statement saying, “Today’s match has been canceled due to a medical emergency in the stands. We appreciate your patience and understanding. The club extends its best wishes to the affected fan and thanks our medical team and emergency personnel. Information on when the match will be rescheduled will be announced in due course.”
