[Saba Sports News] In the recently concluded 2025 season, F1 welcomed a wave of newcomers. Among them, Oliver Bearman, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Gabriel Bortoleto Oliveira, Isack Hadjar, and Jack Doohan all made their F1 debuts in the same year. Although Doohan was replaced midway through the season, the other drivers gained valuable experience in the year preceding significant rule changes, preparing for the comprehensive overhaul of power units and chassis in 2026.
However, in the 2026 season, there will be only one rookie in Formula 1, Arvid Lindblad. Bearman believes that when Lindblad makes his debut in 2026, he will face quite a challenging initiation. This challenge does not stem from a lack of talent, but from the pressure of being the only rookie, without other newcomers to share the load, while also adapting to an entirely new technical regulations cycle. Bearman candidly states that such an environment is not easy for any young driver, but he remains confident in Lindblad’s abilities.
Bearman mentioned that he observed Lindblad’s performance during his time in F2 and F3, noting that he was very consistent throughout the season and has already proven capable of competing at the F1 level. From the writer’s perspective, the new rules in 2026 will require all drivers to relearn, thereby narrowing the experience gap to some extent. However, the issue is that Lindblad will be the only one facing the triple challenge of a new car, new regulations, and the F1 pace, resulting in a more concentrated pressure on his psyche and adaptation.
