[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, Frankfurt president Matthias Beck has expressed strong dissatisfaction with a series of recent incidents, stating that these events are not only infuriating but have also caused serious damage to the club. During the UEFA Champions League away match against Barcelona, some Frankfurt fans reportedly lit flares, damaged restroom facilities in the visiting team’s section, and threw objects, according to a UEFA report. As a result, UEFA has imposed a punishment: Frankfurt will not be able to sell away tickets to traveling fans for the match against Qarabag on January 21.
Additionally, due to repeated fan misconduct this season, the German Football Association’s sports court has imposed fines on the club totaling nearly one million euros. In response, Beck stated, “This also makes me very angry. When these actions threaten the club’s competitive success and stability, we must take action.”
Despite his harsh words, Beck emphasized the importance of maintaining communication. He pointed out that the offenders acted out of self-interest, harming the interests of everyone else, and therefore, the entire fan base should not be punished or seen as opposing forces. Currently, finding a balance between enforcing discipline and preserving the vitality of fan culture has become a challenge for Frankfurt’s management.
