2026 Thailand Badminton Masters
Kickoff Time: 2026-1-27–2-1 (HKT)

The 2026 Thailand Badminton Masters will be held from January 27 to February 1 at the National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The Thailand Masters is a BWF Super 300-level event with a total prize pool of $250,000. Although the level of the tournament is not very high, it has still attracted many top players to participate.
In the men’s singles category, Singapore’s star player LOH Kean Yew is the top seed and will be stationed in the upper half of the draw. In the first round, he will face Hong Kong’s Jason GUNAWAN. LOH Kean Yew has successfully reached the semifinals in both the India Open and Indonesian Masters, showcasing outstanding form. As an attacking player, LOH Kean Yew‘s forehand smash often starts from mid-court, highlighting his incredible explosiveness! His smash is powerful and heavy, making it difficult for his opponents to return the shuttlecock effectively. Additionally, LOH Kean Yew maintains a defensive position further back on the court, allowing him to apply pressure on most shots directed at him and drag opponents into a fast-paced game that suits him. His exceptional speed and reaction ability enable him to dominate fast-paced exchanges and capitalize on opponents’ mistakes. However, LOH Kean Yew‘s techniques are somewhat one-dimensional, making it easier for opponents to target him.
In the lower half of the draw, Indonesia’s second seed Alwi Farhan will face Chinese youngster Hu Zhe An in the first round. In the recently concluded Indonesian Masters, Farhan showcased outstanding performance to reach the final, where he won convincingly 2-0 against Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul, marking a sensational victory. Farhan represents the new generation of Indonesian men’s singles players and is one of the few aggressive net players currently. He has inherited the delicate net skills typical of Indonesian play, frequently catching opponents off guard with his stops and quick pushes. Farhan prefers to lower his center of gravity, creating an imposing figure as he rushes forward like a giant spider from the backcourt. His incredible speed allows him to move quickly to the backcourt, coupled with enough strength to make his attacks highly threatening. However, his defensive techniques and footwork are somewhat rough, and this area requires further refinement.
LOH Kean Yew and Alwi Farhan are undoubtedly the two stars to watch at this Thailand Masters, both considered favorites to win the tournament. Whether LOH Kean Yew can finally break through the semifinal barrier remains a focal point of interest; and whether Farhan can continue his excellent form from the Indonesian Masters to win again has fans eagerly anticipating. The showdown between these two rising stars is also one of the highlights of the tournament. Let us witness the exciting performances of these athletes together!
