[Saba Sports News] According to reports from British media, Everton will continue to cover all of Jack Grealish’s wages during his loan period, despite the England winger needing surgery and being sidelined for the remainder of the season. It has been reported that the 30-year-old Grealish has suffered a stress fracture in his foot and must undergo surgery, which will likely cause him to miss the rest of the season. Since the injury was diagnosed last week, Everton and Manchester City have engaged in multiple rounds of negotiations; however, Moyes has confirmed that the team cannot return Grealish early. Everton has committed to covering most of Grealish’s salary for his loan, totaling around £12 million. Manchester City has set a £50 million buyout option in the loan agreement, but this price is unrealistic for a player whose contract has only one year remaining this summer.
David Moyes stated, “We are verifying the situation, but remember that he is not technically our player; he is owned by Manchester City. Typically, such injuries would be handled by the parent club. For now, we may still primarily be responsible for matters relating to Grealish. No, we cannot return him early; given the sums involved, the club won’t do that.” This injury effectively ends Grealish’s slim hopes of being selected for the England World Cup squad and casts a shadow over his future.
