[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, Spanish coach Albert Riera has introduced a brand-new system of team discipline and fines after taking over at Bundesliga club Frankfurt. The tasks are quirky and interesting, ranging from shining teammates’ shoes to performing maintenance work on the pitch. It is reported that Riera hopes to inject new vitality into the team by adjusting the internal management and culture, with one important measure being the update of the fine system.
Riera stated, “We have a fine system, and I informed the players about it during our first team meeting. The fines have two parts: first, they have to pay a monetary fine, which can be painful; second, they must complete a task.” Additionally, Riera revealed to the media that he designed a “wheel of fortune” listing various tasks that fined players would randomly have to perform: “Some will have to shine teammates’ shoes, some will work with an analyst for an hour, and others may even have to perform maintenance work on the pitch for an hour.”
Riera emphasized that to avoid fines, players must adhere to three core rules that reflect the team spirit he hopes to establish: first, respect each other in the locker room to create a positive atmosphere; second, the attitude in training determines performance in matches; and third, players should ask themselves, “What can I do for the team with and without the ball?”
