[Saba Sports News] Latest reports from English media reveal that tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico are facing sluggish sales, primarily due to a collective boycott by England fans who are refusing to make purchases. The core reason behind this fan boycott, as it turns out, is the exorbitant price of the tickets. Compared with the previous World Cup, ticket prices have soared this time around, putting them well beyond the reach of ordinary fans. What’s more, there is a severe shortage of low-priced tickets, to the point where they are practically non-existent, with the overwhelming majority being premium-priced ones. This has left many die-hard England supporters, who have long stood by the team, feeling disgruntled and undervalued.
Beyond the steep ticket prices themselves, the cost of traveling to North America for the tournament is also substantial. Flights, accommodation and daily living expenses add up to a hefty sum, a factor that has led many fans to abandon their plans to attend. They are unwilling to foot the bill for such unreasonable pricing, in what is essentially an act of resistance against FIFA’s greedy pricing strategy.
It’s worth noting that this boycott by England fans is not a spur-of-the-moment decision. Rather, it is a plea for FIFA to take fans’ demands seriously, adjust its pricing policy and add more affordable ticket options, so that ordinary fans can also get the chance to watch the games live at the tournament venue.
