[Saba Sports News] In the recently aired documentary “Drive to Survive,” former Alpine driver Jack Doohan dropped a bombshell, revealing that he had faced severe death threats during the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. On one occasion, while he was out with his girlfriend and trainer, three armed men suddenly approached, creating a highly dangerous situation. Thanks to an emergency police escort, the situation was barely brought under control, averting a potential disaster. What’s even more infuriating is that these threats extended to Doohan’s family, with malicious accounts forging his father’s social media posts to harass his loved ones. This situation also directly impacted his performance on the track, and during that season, he was eventually replaced, ending his brief stint as an Alpine driver.
The editor believes that as a young driver, Doohan’s dream of pursuing F1 was met with such unexpected adversity, which is truly regrettable. The core of sports competition is fair play and mutual respect; regardless of results, the personal safety of drivers should be absolutely guaranteed. It is hoped that this incident will draw attention from F1 officials and related parties, leading to strengthened protection for drivers, preventing such extreme events from recurring, and allowing the track to return to its essence of speed and passion.
