[Saba Sports News] Four-time F1 World Champion Max Verstappen recently expressed that he is increasingly interested in endurance racing. He admitted that the racing atmosphere there is more traditional and has fewer political factors, which is a significant reason for attracting him to participate in other events outside of F1. Verstappen has confirmed that he will compete in the famous Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race this May. The race is scheduled to take place between May 14 and 17, perfectly between the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix.
However, if there are changes to the F1 calendar, such as the cancellation of the Saudi Grand Prix due to military conflict, Verstappen revealed that he would not rule out participating in the Nürburgring qualifying events in April. When discussing why he wants to seek enjoyment outside of F1, Verstappen stated that this plan has actually been arranged for a long time and is not a result of this year’s racing regulations. However, he also admitted that his driving experience in F1 is no longer as enjoyable as it used to be.
In the editor’s opinion, under the new technical regulations in 2026, drivers need to manage the energy systems more intricately, which has led many drivers to feel that their driving experience has changed, prompting star drivers like Verstappen to openly express their dissatisfaction.
