[Saba Sports News] On March 17 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, Wang Chang and Liang Weikeng — the tournament image ambassadors for the 2026 Ningbo Bank Badminton Asian Championships — gave a distinctive “exclusive champions’ class” to local young badminton players, helping the badminton spirit burn ever brighter through transmission. As a men’s doubles pairing that has drawn much attention in recent years, Wang/Leang have climbed steadily in the world rankings since pairing in 2022, at one point reaching world No. 1 and winning the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After that they went through ups and downs in form, but finally broke a 15-month drought at top-level events by taking the title at the India Open in early 2026. Since 2024, the Badminton Asia Championships have been held in Ningbo for the third consecutive year. For Ningbo native Wang Chang, this hometown event carried special meaning. At the event, Wang and his partner Liang were formally presented with appointment letters as the tournament’s image ambassadors. Shortly after, 35 young badminton players from Ningbo had the rare opportunity to face their idols in one decisive rally.
The editor believes the “Liang–Wang pairing”’s exclusive champions’ class serves as an image summary of a particular phase of their competitive careers. The class focused on how a young pair learns to maintain the right mindset and adjust technique amid praise and pressure, peaks and valleys, ultimately realizing the results of talent and hard work. Its value lies not only in the medals themselves but in the growth narrative behind each title — overcoming difficulties and achieving self-transcendence.
