[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, opposition to Albert Riera is growing within Eintracht Frankfurt. Criticism is mainly focused on the team’s style of play. Although Frankfurt’s defense has become more solid since Riera took charge, the side has grown increasingly lacking in creativity in attack. Particularly in the recent matches against Mainz and St. Pauli, Frankfurt’s attacking threat of old was almost entirely absent. This stands in stark contrast to the attacking football Riera promised when he took over. He became head coach of Frankfurt in early February this year, stating clearly that he wanted to restore confidence, play attractive attacking football, and help the club get back on track. However, seven weeks later, Frankfurt currently sits seventh in the Bundesliga table, eight points behind the European qualification places – which was the club’s target for this season.
The editor believes that although Eintracht Frankfurt has not yet entered crisis mode, head coach Albert Riera is facing mounting pressure after less than two months in charge. Furthermore, Riera questioned his players’ abilities following their defeat, which has also left some players dissatisfied.
