[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, after more than a year and a half away from their usual home stadium, the French national team will return to the Stade de France starting in October. The French Football Federation (FFF) officially announced this Friday that it has signed a 30-year agreement with GL Events, the stadium’s new operator. In an official statement, the FFF noted that the deal with GL Events covers the management and operation of the Stade de France for the next three decades, under the framework of the new concession awarded to the GL Events Group by the French state in June 2025. France will officially return to the stadium on 2 October 2027 for a UEFA Nations League match against Italy. Their last game there was on 23 March 2025, a Nations League quarter-final against Croatia.
The editor believes that the long-running negotiations between the two parties over the stadium forced Didier Deschamps’ side to play three 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Parc des Princes in Paris instead, against Iceland, Azerbaijan and Ukraine respectively.
