[Saba Sports News] In the Copa del Rey final, Real Sociedad defeated Atlético Madrid on penalties to lift the trophy. According to Spanish media reports, Real Sociedad will receive a bonus of around 1.2 million euros, while Atlético Madrid will receive approximately 1 million euros. The specific distribution of Copa del Rey prize money is rather complex. Each season, the Copa del Rey generates around 33 million euros in revenue from television rights. This sum is then divided into several portions. First, 90% (approximately 29.5 million euros) is allocated to professional football, with the remaining 10% (just over 3 million euros) going to amateur football and the teams participating in the Copa del Rey at that level. Of the 29.5 million euros earmarked for professional football, 90% is distributed among La Liga clubs and 10% to Segunda División clubs. This means around 26.5 million euros will be shared among the 20 La Liga teams. Of this amount, 50% is split equally among all 20 sides — Atlético Madrid, Real Sociedad, and the other 18 clubs — with each team guaranteed roughly 660,000 euros.
The editor believes that these figures are estimates based on 33 million euros in TV broadcast revenue. If revenue is higher, all amounts will be increased proportionally, and vice versa. Compared with other competitions, this sum appears insignificant: the La Liga title prize money is around 60 million euros, while the Champions League winners receive 100 million euros.
