[Saba Sports News] According to South Korean media reports, Son Heung-min’s father, Son Woong-jung, has submitted a petition to the police, demanding a thorough investigation into Mr. Jang, Son Heung-min’s former agent, on suspicion of fraud and other charges. On the 23rd, Son Woong-jung filed the petition with the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which is in charge of the case involving Mr. Jang. His core request is to detain Mr. Jang and conduct a full probe into the case to prevent further victims. In the petition, Son Woong-jung explicitly stressed that he has never signed any documents regarding the transfer of Son Heung-min’s advertising and portrait rights. He also stated that SON&FOOTBALL Limited has held the exclusive agency rights for Son Heung-min since 2013. Mr. Jang handled Son Heung-min’s domestic activities in South Korea for more than a decade. In 2019, when selling Sports United (now rebranded as ICM Stellar Korea), a company he represented, Mr. Jang presented an exclusive agency contract bearing the signatures of Son Woong-jung and Son Heung-min to a corporate investor identified as Party A.
The editor believes that Party A blindly trusted the contract, agreed to acquire the company’s shares and paid part of the transaction funds. Zhang filed a lawsuit against SON&FOOTBALL Limited to claim settlement fees and other related expenses. In its 2024 ruling, the court held that it was difficult to confirm that Zhang held exclusive agency rights for Son Heung-min, and only partially upheld Zhang’s claims.
