[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique treated the entire team to a dinner to keep his pre-Champions League promise, rather than holding a birthday party for himself. Paris Saint-Germain successfully qualified for the Champions League final earlier this week, and this Thursday marks Luis Enrique’s 56th birthday. There had been reports that Enrique had invited the entire PSG squad to a meal to celebrate his birthday, yet he himself did not attend the gathering. It is reported that in reality, Enrique was merely fulfilling his promise to treat the players made ahead of the Champions League tie. After the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, during a conversation between Enrique and the players in the dressing room, some of them decided to dine out together if they managed to reach the final. The players jokingly told Enrique he should foot the bill, to which he replied: “If you qualify for the final, I’ll pay.”
The editor believes that this Spanish coach has shaped the current side with his personal charisma, hard work and tactical talent, leading them to reach the Champions League final for two consecutive years. Despite having fewer star players in the squad, it is a united group and stands as the strongest team over the past three years.
