
[Saba Sports News] The Human Resources Development Center of the General Administration of Sport of China issued a public notice on May 6. Badminton Olympic champions Chen Long, Huang Dongping and Tian Qing have been awarded the professional title of national-level coach. The public notice period runs from May 7 to May 12, and the appointment will take official effect if no objections are raised.
Chen Long claimed a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a silver medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, completing a full set of Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals. He retired in 2023 and was inducted into the BWF Hall of Fame in 2024. He currently serves as a coach of the Chinese National Junior Badminton Team. Partnered with Wang Yilv, Huang Dongping won the mixed doubles title at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. She also helped China clinch victories in the Sudirman Cup and Uber Cup. She has previously been honored with the May 4th Youth Medal of China, National March 8th Red Banner Bearer and National May 1st Labor Medal. Tian Qing partnered with Zhao Yunlei to win the women’s doubles gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, securing five consecutive Olympic women’s doubles titles for the Chinese badminton team. She is also a two-time World Championships women’s doubles champion and a women’s doubles Grand Slam winner. She now holds the position of Director of Hunan Provincial Administration Center for Badminton, Table Tennis and Tennis Sports.
It is widely acknowledged that the promotion of Chen Long, Huang Dongping and Tian Qing to national-level coaches is well-deserved.
