[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, Mallorca has hit its wage budget ceiling with barely any funds left, and the club has posted total losses of nearly 18 million euros over the past two seasons. Mallorca insists such losses remain manageable on the condition that the side can secure a stable foothold in La Liga. Its financial plans include player sales, financial restructuring and capital increase. The scheme was deemed low-risk, yet it hinges entirely on staying in the top flight. Relegation would plunge the club into an extremely tough predicament. Broadcasting revenue will take the biggest hit. In the 2024-25 season, Segunda División clubs earned less than 9 million euros from TV rights, while Mallorca pocketed 43.89 million euros in La Liga. Though the club is entitled to certain compensation thanks to its five consecutive seasons in the top tier, it is far from enough to offset the massive revenue drop.
The editor believes that Mallorca currently sit 19th in the league table ahead of the final round of La Liga fixtures. Barring a miracle, they will be relegated in the last matchday.
