[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Dai Dai, the official World Cup theme song by Colombian singer Shakira, amassed over 100 million streams within just two weeks of its release. Having collaborated on soundtracks for four World Cup tournaments, she stands out as the most successful artist associated with World Cup anthems. The 49-year-old Shakira performed the official 2026 World Cup theme song alongside Nigerian rapper Burna Boy. Its music video is expected to see a massive surge in views once the World Cup kicks off. Back in 2006, she sang a remixed version of Hips Don’t Lie ahead of the final between Italy and France at the Germany World Cup. For the 2010 South Africa World Cup, she released Waka Waka, whose music video has racked up 4.5 billion views, ranking among the world’s top 20 most-viewed music videos of all time. She then dropped La La La for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, with the video hitting 1.3 billion views.
The editor believes that aside from releasing the official 2026 World Cup theme song, Shakira will also perform during the halftime show of the final on July 19. This marks the first halftime show ever held for a World Cup final. When talking about this tournament, Shakira commented: “Every World Cup is magical. At a time when society and politics are highly sensitive around the world, this World Cup will bring people together.”
