[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, after being left out of the World Cup squad, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been interacting with United fans and helping hand out sticker albums. Though his World Cup dream came to a brutal end, the fan favourite has kept a positive mindset and even travelled all the way to the United States. On Friday, Maguire was photographed handing out Panini stickers to children in New York, much to the delight of supporters. The starstruck youngsters could barely believe their eyes as the former United captain distributed stickers beside the Panini cart at Rockefeller Center. Maguire also took the stage at Long Acre, a Manchester United supporters’ bar near Times Square, where he answered fans’ questions. The 66-cap England international flew to New York after agreeing to appear as a special guest on Gary Winston Lineker’s Netflix show The Rest is Football.
The editor believes that Maguire has been analysing and commenting on the performances of England and their title rivals since the World Cup kicked off. However, he found himself in an awkward spot when Lineker praised Thomas Tuchel’s personnel choices in the match against Croatia. Lineker remarked: “Does England’s style of play today make people start to think there was good reason to leave out certain players?” He instantly realised his remark was tactless and quickly added, “Except for the gentleman sitting right here!”
