[Saba Sports News] Recently, Club Africain released a statement on its official Facebook page, calling for senior officials of the Tunisian Football Federation to step down. Tunisia suffered a crushing 1-5 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of this World Cup. The federation then opted to sack the head coach mid-tournament, yet the team went on to lose 0-4 to Japan in their second game under the new manager. In response to this sequence of poor results, Club Africain issued the statement demanding the resignation of top federation executives. Club Africain put forward the following demands: The current executive committee of the Tunisian Football Federation must resign immediately and bear moral and sporting accountability for the current dire state of Tunisian football. In particular, its members are accused of leveraging their official positions to secure posts within international sports bodies, prioritizing personal interests over collective national football interests. Launch a full, independent investigation into all administrative, financial and sporting irregularities, violations and controversial rulings that emerged throughout the previous domestic football season. Identify all parties held responsible, and impose disciplinary sanctions on anyone proven to have underperformed in their duties, tarnished Tunisia’s reputation, undermined the interests of Tunisian football, or violated the principles of integrity and transparency.
The editor believes that reviving Tunisian football has become a national duty. Urgent intervention is imperative to halt this downward spiral that threatens Tunisia’s sporting reputation at home and abroad. With clubs, fans and the sports media steadily losing faith in the authorities, maintaining the status quo is no longer tenable.
