[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United is tracking players’ fitness levels using GPS technology during the off-season. Even with the World Cup expanded to 48 teams, several senior first-team players at Manchester United are available to feature in all six pre-season fixtures. Slovenia, Cameroon and Denmark failed to qualify for the World Cup finals hosted in North America, meaning Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu will report back for duty in early July. Harry Maguire spent the early part of this summer on holiday in Barbados before travelling to New York, where he attended a fan meet-and-greet event. Two years ago, while recovering from a calf injury in Portugal, Maguire completed two training sessions per day alongside United’s fitness coach at the time, with GPS monitoring utilised throughout his rehabilitation. Manchester United’s data analytics team had established baseline physical metrics for Maguire prior to his injury, and he was required to hit targeted fitness benchmarks at each stage of his recovery process.
In my view, Manchester United will send training schedules to players on leave and provide them with GPS trackers to guarantee they complete the required workouts. As a result, the players actually have plenty of time to recover and improve their fitness levels.
