[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitiké was spotted at The Championships, Wimbledon on crutches, marking his first public appearance since suffering an Achilles tendon rupture back in April. The 24-year-old sustained the right Achilles injury during Liverpool’s match against Paris Saint-Germain, which ruled him out for the rest of the season and cost him a place in France’s World Cup squad. During last month’s friendly between France and Ivory Coast, fans unfurled a banner reading “Allez Hugo” in the stands to show their support for him. This type of injury typically requires a recovery period of up to 12 months, meaning he is likely to miss the majority of next season’s fixtures. On Friday, he watched the Wimbledon matches dressed in a Dolce & Gabbana suit paired with a paisley-print tie, relying on crutches to get around. Ekitiké previously completed rehabilitation sessions in Los Angeles alongside German physiotherapist Buschmann, a familiar figure from his time at Eintracht Frankfurt. Last week, Buschmann shared footage on social media showing Ekitiké undertaking lower-body workouts and pool-based recovery exercises, as well as clips of the player walking unaided without crutches.
The editor believes that before his injury, Ekitike was the bright spot in Liverpool’s lackluster campaign. Having scored 17 goals to finish as the club’s top scorer, we wish him a speedy recovery.
