[Saba Sports News] According to French media, France has secured prize money totalling 25.8 million euros, balancing its books for this World Cup campaign. France beat Morocco 2-0 in the World Cup quarter-final to seal a semi-final spot. The French national team incurred substantial expenses throughout the tournament, covering accommodation, transportation, security, bonuses for players and coaching staff, match ticket costs and more. By reaching the semi-finals, the French Football Federation (FFF) is guaranteed USD 27 million (roughly €23.6 million) as a top-four finish bonus, plus a USD 2.5 million (around €2.2 million) preparation grant, combining for a total of €25.8 million. Initially, FIFA set the preparation grant at USD 1.5 million per national team. However, following protests from multiple federations, particularly those from Europe, the grant was raised to USD 2.5 million. Should France go on to win the World Cup title, they will be awarded USD 50 million (€43.7 million) in prize money. The runner-up receives USD 33 million (€28.9 million), while the third-placed side gets USD 29 million (€25.4 million).
The editor believes that the French Football Federation built its financial budget for the 2026–27 campaign on the assumption that Les Bleus would only reach the quarter-finals of this World Cup. As a result, France’s current financial performance is fully in line with the projected budget.
