[Saba Sports News] Ex-Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has recently drawn attention for his critical remarks about former teammate David Warner. Warner, set to play his final Test series against Pakistan starting December 14, was criticized by Johnson for not deserving a farewell series due to his involvement in the 2018 sandpaper scandal.
Additionally, Johnson’s online comments targeting Indian cricket star Virat Kohli have resurfaced. He labeled Kohli as the ‘easiest batter to dismiss’ and mockingly responded ‘Who?’ when asked if he remembers Kohli. Johnson also slyly commented on Kohli’s cover drive while subtly criticizing his batting.
These comments were found on a post from Johnson’s Instagram, dated November 18, 2023, showing him looking out a window, showcasing his ponytail, with a caption expressing gratitude.
Indian fans have since reacted strongly, flooding Johnson’s Instagram with images and GIFs of Kohli’s confrontations with him during the 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
During that series, Kohli was in top form, ending as the second-highest scorer with 692 runs, including four centuries. The series saw intense exchanges between Kohli and Johnson, especially in the third Test in Melbourne. Johnson, over the series, bowled 157 balls to Kohli, conceding 145 runs but dismissing him three times.
Their rivalry peaked when Johnson dismissed Kohli for just 1 run in the 2015 ODI World Cup semi-final, contributing to Australia’s victory.
