The move does not necessarily mean anything definitive, yet it has certainly attracted attention. RB Leipzig have not announced an exact date for his return, though Diomande is expected to rejoin the squad next week. Even so, the changes to his social media profiles have fuelled speculation about his future. His follower count tripled during the World Cup and now stands at 1.1 million. Nevertheless, most posts connected to RB Leipzig have been removed from his page. Only 32 posts remain on his account, merely four of which relate to the club. Could this signal the start of transfer turmoil? A similar scenario unfolded last summer with former RB Leipzig player Xavi Simons ahead of his move to Tottenham Hotspur. Back then, the Dutchman, who was desperate to leave, erased all references to RB Leipzig from his social media bio, as if he no longer regarded himself as part of the club.
Nevertheless, Diomande is not the type to stir up friction. He remains grateful to the club, which supported him while his mother battled serious illness. It was here that his career truly took off one year ago. The winger has consistently come across as affable and humble. Even so, transfer speculation surrounding him continues to swirl. It is reported that elite European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all battling to sign him.
