[Saba Sports News] In the fourth ODI of the ongoing series against Australia, South Africa set a gigantic target of 417 runs at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
South Africa began their innings well with a 64-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks. Rassie van der Dussen, who batted at No. 3, also notched up a well-deserved fifty, scoring 62 runs off 65 balls.
But the star of the innings happened to be Heinrich Klaasen, who achieved his highest ODI score, amassing a monstrous 174 runs off just 83 deliveries with the help of 13 fours and as many sixes. Miller also provided strong support, scoring a 45-ball 82. Miller and Klaasen engaged in a 222-run fifth-wicket partnership.
It was all hunky dory for South Africa. However, it was a day to forget for Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who ended with the bowling figures of 10-0-113-0, marking the worst performance of his ODI career. This ranks as the joint-most expensive bowling spell in ODI cricket, tying with his fellow countryman Mick Lewis, who recorded identical figures in 2006 against the same opposition, South Africa, in Johannesburg.
Chasing 417 runs, Australia got bowled out for 252. South Africa have tied the series 2-2. The decider will be played at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on September 17.
