Following his
nine-wicket performance in the fifth Test against England in Dharamsala,
India’s offspinner R Ashwin rose to the top of the rankings for the sixth time
among men’s bowlers in Test cricket. With six wickets in the Christchurch Test
victory over New Zealand, Australian quick Josh Hazlewood tied Jasprit Bumrah
for the second-best ranking of his career at No. 2.
Following his seven wickets in the Dharamsala Test, India’s left-arm
wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav has climbed fifteen spots to a career-high sixteenth
rank.
India’s skipper
Rohit Sharma has climbed five ranks to sixth place in the men’s Test batter
rankings, Yashasvi Jaiswal has climbed two slots to eighth place, and Shubman
Gill is at a career-best No. 20. Jaiswal has amassed 740 rating points from
nine Test matches; only two hitters, Australians Don Bradman (752) and Mike
Hussey (741), have amassed more, according to the ICC.
Harry Tector of Ireland has moved up to fourth position in the men’s ODI
batting standings after amassing 141 runs in two games played in Sharjah
against Afghanistan. Babar Azam of Pakistan remains at the top of the charts,
followed by Gill and Virat Kohli at Nos. 2 and 3, and Rohit at No. 5.
In the men’s Test
batting order, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Babar are ranked first, while in
the T20I rankings, the top three players are Suryakumar Yadav, Phil Salt, and
Mohammad Rizwan.
In men’s ODIs, the top bowlers are Adam Zampa, Hazlewood, and Keshav Maharaj;
in T20 internationals, the top three bowlers are Adil Rashid, Wanindu
Hasaranga, and Akeal Hosein. In men’s Tests, ODIs, and T20 internationals,
respectively, the top-ranked all-rounders are Shakib Al Hasan, Ravindra Jadeja,
and Mohammed Nabi.
Across all formats, India is the best side; in Tests, Australia and England
rank second and third; in ODIs, Australia and South Africa rank second and
third; in T20 internationals, England and Australia rank second and third.
