BWF World Championships The BWF World Championships, also known as the World Badminton Championships, is the highest level of badminton individual championships authorized by the Badminton World Federation, which, along with the Summer Olympics, offers the highest number of ranking points, and is held annually except in the year in which the Summer Olympics are held. To determine the world champions in five events (men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles). This event is an individual event, eligibility is determined by world ranking points, and BWF member associations are invited to register their players. The winner of each event will be awarded the gold medal and the title of “World Champion”, the second runner-up will be awarded the silver medal, and the joint third runner-up will be awarded the bronze medal.
