(SabaSports) On his podcast “7PM in Brooklyn,” Carmelo Anthony talked about what happened to Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum during the Paris Olympics. Tatum didn’t play in the two games against Serbia, suffering DNP from coach Steve Kerr (not scheduled to play). Anthony expressed his dissatisfaction and criticized Kerr’s hiring practices.
Anthony said he would accept being told in advance that he wouldn’t be able to play, but hoped Kerr would communicate openly. He mentioned that during training camp in Las Vegas, the two sides should have communicated about the depth of the team and his role on the team so that he could prepare mentally and emotionally. Anthony also added that Kerr should have communicated with the player beforehand if he viewed Tatum as the ninth, 10th or 11th man. He stressed that if he were Tatum and encountered DNP without prior communication, he would be very angry.
