[Saba Sports News] India captain Rohit Sharma is all set for a T20I comeback. Rohit last played a T20I in the World Cup 2022 semi-final versus England.
While it was being rumoured that Rohit’s T20I career is all but over, the 36-year-old has been recalled as the captain of the side for the three-match series against Afghanistan, commencing on January 11 in Mohali.
As the T20I comeback looms, Rohit has an opportunity to break several records. First and foremost, he can become the third cricketer after Virat Kohli and Suzie Bates to score 4000 T20I runs. Currently, the opener has accumulated 3,853 runs in 148 T20Is, including four hundreds.
Rohit is only five more sixes shy of surpassing Eoin Morgan’s tally of maximums as the T20I captain. While Morgan smashed 86 sixes in his career, which is the most by a captain in T20Is, Rohit is sitting at 82 sixes currently.
He can also become the first men’s cricketer to be a part of 100 T20I wins. He is just a victory away from achieving this feat. In women’s cricket, Danni Wyatt, Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry have this record against their names.
