[Saba Sports News] India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson expressed his disappointment after not being selected in the squad announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, alongside captain Rohit Sharma, on Monday evening for the upcoming ODI series versus Australia.
Samson took to Instagram to express his despondency and posted a picture of himself batting in the Indian jersey. He wrote a caption “It is what it is! I choose to keep moving forward.”
The squad highlights the comeback of Ravichandran Ashwin and a surprising inclusion of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is set to lead India in the Asian Games 2023.
With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli rested for the first two ODIs, there were enough spots available to keep Samson in the squad.
It made even more sense to include Samson as he traveled as a reserve player for Asia Cup 2023.
Notably, he is also not a part of the India contingent for the Asian Games 2023.
Samson last played an ODI in August 2023 against West Indies, during which he scored 51 runs. Overall, the 28-year-old Samson has played 13 ODIs, amassing a total of 390 runs with an average of 55.71.
