(SabaSports) According to Marc Stein, LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul played a key role in the eventual failure of the Golden State Warriors to team up with Stephen Curry. According to Stein, Paul blocked negotiations between the Lakers and the Warriors and was determined against James leaving the Lakers for the Warriors because he didn’t want James to change teams for the fourth time in his career.
Stein reports, “According to league sources, talks between the Lakers and the Warriors never got off the ground, largely because Rich Paul was adamantly opposed to the idea of James moving from Southern California to Northern California. Despite owners-level conversations between Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, and even Warriors player Draymond Green actively lobbying for James to join a Bay Area team, Rich Paul eventually talked both sides out of the idea, The reason is that he doesn’t want James to suffer the press of changing teams again.”
