(sabasports report)Renowned NBA collective bargaining expert Bobby Marks went on a Bay Area radio station today and said that if he were in the Warriors’ front office, he would have cut Chris Paul and dropped Klay Thompson to focus the team on developing young players.

Marks noted that Paul’s $30 million annual salary isn’t guaranteed until June 28, and if the Warriors cut him before that point, nothing would have to be paid. As for Thompson, Marks believes the Warriors should focus their efforts on developing the team’s young core rather than continuing to invest in some older players.
The labor-management expert’s suggestion certainly attracted wide attention. As the top stars in the league, Chris Paul and Klay Thompson, if they are really abandoned by the Warriors, it will undoubtedly have a major impact on the future of the team. In the long run, though, Marks’s point deserves serious consideration.
