(sabasports report)The Lakers signed J.J. Redick to a four-year, $32 million deal as their new head coach and the 10th in LeBron James’ NBA career. However, Udonis Haslem, a former teammate of James and the soul of the Heat, is pessimistic about Redick’s coaching prospects.
Haslem doesn’t think the Lakers can advance to the playoffs with their current roster, no matter what Redick designs. “The Lakers are definitely not going to make the playoffs,” he said. I love this Lakers team and what they’re doing, but they’re not going to make the playoffs this year with this roster. Redick can design all kinds of Puerto Rican plays for the Lakers, but it doesn’t matter.”
Of the nine coaches in James’s career, Mike Brown has the longest tenure and the most wins, and Erik Spoelstra has the most wins. Spoelstra, Tyronn Lue and Frank Vogel have led James to championships.
Whether Redick can break through the doubt and lead the Lakers back to the top remains to be seen.
