(SabaSports) Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool and negotiations over an extension have yet to formally begin. Liverpool are in a transitional period, while Real Madrid are hoping to sign the England international without a visa next summer. Similar to the way they pursued Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid could offer Arnold a hefty signing fee and a hefty salary.

Ben Foster, the former Manchester United goalkeeper, believes the situation will greatly strengthen Arnold’s hand in negotiations with Liverpool. Foster pointed out that Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah could be paid £600,000 a week combined. Arnold, on the other hand, could be worth as much as £100m if he signs a new contract for four to five years.
Foster added: “Arnold knows that very well, so he can demand to be the highest paid player in the Premier League before signing a new contract. I think it is entirely possible that if he joined Real Madrid on a free transfer, he could be paid £400,000 to £500,000 a week.“
