“I’m not a machine, I’m not a beast. Like everyone else, I’ve had my share of problems and lows. It’s very difficult to always be at the top level, I’ve been in football for more than 20 years and you can’t always do the job perfectly. If a person is in trouble or doesn’t feel good about himself, we might ask him to give up. Few people read a book from the first page. They care more about the result.”

Lewandowski says he has never lost his goalscoring instinct and believes he will soon be back to his best. “I’m always hungry. You can score goals and have a great game, but you have to relax a little bit. If you think, ‘I’m the best,’ it’s not working. When I was younger, I used to score goals and I was never satisfied. I will only ask myself to give my best performance in every aspect and try to do something that I have never been exposed to. I can’t live with myself for too long if I don’t score goals in a row, that’s what I said to the media and the fans. I have to say it’s a headache because it’s not football.”
